I actually am making a teeny tiny bit of headway on a couple of my TBR pile, lol. Yay!

I caught up on the latest manga for “The Alchemist Who Survived Now Dreams of a Quiet Life” and I have to say I am loving it! It has my favorite things – fantasy settings, magic, camaraderie, cute guys, lol. The art is super lovely as well. I just wish it came out faster — the light novel has like 3 more volumes out. Again, I love female protagonists who are capable and Mariela is a fun one. I can’t wait to see the reveal of her master, which I’m assuming will happen at some point, given these first volumes are just the setup for the world and situation, etc.

Ahhhhhh, House of Sky and Breath. When I read Sarah J Maas for the first time with the first book in this series, House of Blood and Earth, I threw that book across a room about a quarter of the way through it because I was mad. I rarely have really big reactions to books like that and I ended up eventually picking up the story and finishing it and I was actually satisfied. I got sucked in. So here with the second book, I’ve started the read and I’m scared what is going to happen to the characters, lol, because I already know Maas is not afraid to jack up your favorites. Definitely one of my favorite series in recent years, even if I don’t love the main character all that much (because I really, really don’t, but the world is fantastic).

Cupcakes, Trinkets, and Other Deadly Magic by Meghan Ciana Doidge is my latest Audiobook read and man. I keep yelling at the main character, Jade, because she is not the sharpest tool in the shed, by a long shot. She does a lot of things that are simply dumb. I am hoping that there are some decent revelations as the book continues, because it looks like the plot is pretty straightforward and the bad guys are pretty obvious (except to Jade lol). It’s a fluff read, though, not too heavy in the realm of urban fantasy and it’s the first book in the series, so there is a lot of setup. Anyway, will continue to reserve final judgement until the end. EDIT: I finished it. Um. I don’t totally want to but I think I need to read the next one to make everything uhhhh make sense or something lol.

I’m also reading the latest Innkeeper Chronicles installment, Sweep of the Heart by Ilona Andrews. The Innkeeper series is probably one of my favorite book series and my favorite series by Ilona Andrews ( I found the authors via the Kate Daniels Series, but Innkeeper hits all my buttons more, less gore, more weird magic plus space opera! Totally my jam).

For web comics, I’ve been catching up on Under the Oak Tree and I started Falling for the Enemy, both on Manta. I have to get back to my web comics on Webtoon too ( Lore Olympus, Like Wind on a Dry Branch, The Remarried Empress, Midnight Poppy Land, and a bunch of others). There’s so much to read!! I love it. Plus I heard the next volume of Fence is going to be coming out so that makes me happy too 😀
